Q: Can you please include <INSERT FEATURES HERE> to this wonderful plug-in?
Sorry I cannot comply. Due to limited knowledge and time, I do not have plans to add extra functionalities to the program. There will be no further updates unless there is a critical bug.
Q: Will this plug-in work on Pocket PC 2000 / 2002 / 2003 / 2003SE?
No.
Q: Can you please make this plug-in work on Pocket PC 2000 / 2002 / 2003 / 2003SE?
Due to performance issues, I have to use the Windows Mobile 5.0 API to write certain rendering functions. Rewriting these functions to work with an older operating system will produce undesirable outcome. Therefore, I regret that I have to decline this offer.
Q: Can this plug-in run on Windows Mobile Smartphone?
The Installer will run fine but the plug-in will NOT work.
Q: Why is this plug-in not working on Windows Mobile Smartphone?
Due to limited knowledge and time, I have dropped support for the Smartphone. This program can only run on Pocket PC device as for now.
Q: Why is this plug-in not showing correctly on my Pocket PC device with Hebrew / Arabic language support?
Sorry. I have dropped right-to-left (RTL) language support for this program on the Windows Mobile. Aside from the language barrier, I had a difficult time trying to get Windows Mobile Emulator to display and detect RTL languages correctly.
Q: Help! The clock freezes after I lock my Pocket PC device.
This can be remedied by affixing the plug-in. Please read Affixing the Plug-in for details.
Q: Help! The plug-in does not show up after I successfully installed it.
Two possibilities if the plug-in does not display on Today Screen:
- You do not have TAHOMA.TTF font file in the \Windows\ folder of your device. Copy and install the font file if you cannot find it on your system.
- You are using a screen utility that changes your display's DPI. This plug-in will only work on devices running in 96, 128 or 192 DPI.
Q: I had overridden the default system font (Tahoma) on Windows Mobile and my font screwed up after I installed this plug-in. What's going on?
The custom font used in Pocket Digital Clock is linked to the default system font (Tahoma). If you changed the system font to something else, the font linking will break and the font in your system will be messed up.
To resolve this problem:
- Use a Pocket PC registry editor and navigate to the registry key at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\FontLink\SystemLink
- Open the registry subkey named PDC
- Change the string in Value Data from \Windows\TAHOMA.TTF,Tahoma to the new font filename and font family name. For example, if you are using Segoe UI as the system font, change this to \Windows\SEGOEUI.TTF,Segoe UI
- Save the registry changes.
- Soft-reset the device to take effect.
Q: Why is the time on the plug-in showing squares and boxes instead of numbers?
You are probably using a third-party language support software on your Windows Mobile. The plug-in cannot link to the custom font properly if you use such software.
There are two workarounds for this issue:
- Delete the PDC.ttf custom font file in the \Program Files\Pocket Digital Clock\ folder and use the default system font instead.
- Or, link the PDC custom font to a system base font, e.g. Tahoma font. Note that this option will lock the PDC.ttf file into memory and you will need to rename the file extension before you can delete it.
To link the PDC custom font to a system base font:
- Use a registry editor and navigate to the registry key at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\FontLink\SystemLink
- Look for a registry subkey with the default system font name. If you did not override your system font before, then the subkey should be Tahoma. If you have overridden it, replace Tahoma with the name of the system font of your choice.
- If Tahoma subkey does not exist:
- Create a New String Value and with the name Tahoma
- Enter \Program Files\Pocket Digital Clock\PDC.TTF,PDC in the Value Data field
- If Tahoma subkey exists and Value Data contains data:
- Append ;\Program Files\Pocket Digital Clock\PDC.TTF,PDC to the Value Data field of Tahoma (Note the semi-colon)
- Save the registry changes.
- Soft-reset the device.
Q: Why are some of the check boxes / radio buttons / browse button grey out in Pocket Digital Clock option dialogs?
Some options are grey out or disabled because certain conditions are not met. Please read the additional notes under the corresponding options in the Customization page for details.
