Installation Notes

To install Pocket Digital Clock to device, either:

  • Run the EXE file from your desktop via Microsoft ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center (recommended), or
  • Execute the CAB file on your Pocket PC.

IMPORTANT: If you have installed Pocket Digital Clock Release Candidate 1.2 or earlier, please uninstall the application before installing the new one. See Uninstallation Notes below for more details. For other versions of Pocket Digital Clock, I suggest a soft reset before you reinstall or upgrade.

The program will now ask if you want to keep the option dialog settings if you are reinstalling or upgrading from Pocket Digital Clock Version 1.1 or later.

Tap Yes if you want to retain the user settings, otherwise press No.

If you have custom font (other than PDC Default) installed for Pocket Digital Clock Version 1.1.2.1 or earlier, please remove and re-download it from the Custom Fonts page.

To remove custom font used for RC 1.2, rename the file extension of PDCcustom.ttf in the \Windows\ folder and remove it later. Font mapping has changed in the new version and PDCcustom.ttf will not work anymore.

Uninstallation Notes

To uninstall Pocket Digital Clock from device:

  • Go to Start > Settings > System > Remove Programs
  • Select ProjectION Pocket Digital Clock and tap the Remove button

Or, uninstall via Microsoft ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center (recommended).

Troubleshooting Uninstall Problems

If Windows Mobile complains about program files not being removed completely during uninstallation, cancel the process by clicking NO, so that you do NOT remove it from the list of installed programs.

Next, go to Start > Settings > Personal > Today > Items and uncheck Pocket Digital Clock to disable and remove the plug-in from Today Screen. Press ok to save changes. This will unload the program from the main memory.

You may also want to do a soft-reset after disabling the plug-in. A soft-reset is required to close some programs like File Explorer or Microsoft ActiveSync in order to release the handle of the program files or folder after browsing them.

You can now proceed to uninstall the program.

Normally, disabling the plug-in and a soft-reset should let you uninstall the plug-in properly. However, if Windows Mobile still stubbornly refuses to uninstall the program completely, try this method:

  • Download and reinstall the latest version of Pocket Digital Clock.
  • Perform an uninstall again via ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center.

If all previous methods failed, your last resort would be a manual removal.

Manual Removal

Manually remove the program files and registry keys specified in this section.

  • Locate the program files and rename the file extension. Rename the file extensions from your desktop via Microsoft ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center. File Explorer in Windows Mobile may not do the job.
    • Pocket Digital Clock Release Candidate 1.2 or earlier installs the program files in the \Windows\ folder
    • Pocket Digital Clock Release Candidate 1.3 or later installs files in \Program Files\Pocket Digital Clock\
  • Files to rename are:
    • PDC.DLL
    • PDCsetup.DLL
    • PDC.TTF
    • PDCcustom.TTF (RC 1.2 or earlier)
  • Rename them to any extension that is not reserved by system, e.g.:
    • PDC.DLL.OLD
    • PDCsetup.DLL.OLD
    • PDC.TFF.OLD
    • PDCcustom.TTF.OLD (RC 1.2 or earlier)
  • Now, do a soft-reset and delete the renamed files.
  • Once the files are gone, proceed to remove the registry keys and values using a Pocket PC registry editor.
    • [HKCU\SOFTWARE\ProjectION]
      Delete the entire registry key.
    • [HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today\Items\Pocket Digital Clock]
      Delete the entire registry key.
    • [HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\FontLink\SystemLink]
Do NOT delete the SystemLink registry key but just remove the subkey named PDC in this key.
